Malaysia Industrial Output Grows Most In 7 Months

Malaysia's industrial output growth accelerated for the second straight month in July, figures from the Department of Statistics showed on Thursday.

Industrial production rose 4.2 percent year-over-year in July, faster than the 2.9 percent increase in the previous month. Production has been rising since January 2024.

Further, the latest growth was the quickest since December 2024, when output rose 4.6 percent.

Among sectors, the annual growth in manufacturing improved to 4.4 percent in July from 3.6 percent in June. Mining output recovered strongly by 4.3 percent, while the growth in electricity production eased to 1.6 percent from 2.3 percent.

On a monthly basis, industrial output dropped 0.3 percent in July, reversing a 7.5 percent surge in June.
