Mexico Inflation Rises To 3.57%

Mexico's consumer price inflation increased somewhat in August after easing in the previous two months, data from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography, or INEGI, showed on Tuesday.

The consumer price index climbed 3.57 percent year-on-year in August, as expected, following a 3.51 percent rise in July.

Data showed that core inflation was stable at 4.23 percent in August.

Prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages alone grew 3.1 percent annually in August, and costs for housing and utilities were 3.57 percent higher compared to last year. Transportation charges were 1.18 percent more expensive.

On a monthly basis, consumer prices edged up 0.06 percent in August after rising 0.27 percent in the prior month.
