Singapore's industrial production growth accelerated in June, figures from Economic Development Board showed Friday.
Industrial output grew 8.0 percent year-on-year in June, faster than the 3.6 percent rise in May. The growth rate exceeded forecast of 7.1 percent.
Excluding biomedical manufacturing, production advanced 8.2 percent.
Precision engineering output surged 18.9 percent and biomedical manufacturing climbed 11.3 percent. Transport engineering and electronics grew 9.2 percent and 6.6 percent, respectively.
Chemical output was up 1.1 percent. By contrast, general manufacturing shrank 11.6 percent.
On a monthly basis, manufacturing output was unchanged in June after posting a 1.0 percent gain in May.
