US stocks close lower. S&P and Dow stay in negative territory. Nasdaq loses gains

The major indices close lower

The NASDAQ index was the only major index that traded in positive territory today. At session highs, the index traded up 75.64 points before giving it all up, and closing in negative territory. The S&P index could only get to down -0.02 points. The Dow industrial average was down -26.49 points at its session highs.

The final numbers are showing:

Dow industrial average -349.27 points or -0.77% at 45282.47
S&P index down -27.59 points or -0.43% at 6439.32
Nasdaq index down -47.24 points or -0.22% at 21449.29
